Finish Was Terrible

I received this set as a gift on Christmas Day. What was excitement for the best gift ever quickly turned into disappointment as I pulled each pan out of their paper sleeve to find them badly oxidized, streaky, and the copper finish completely white in places (looked like stainless steel - there was no color). Each and every piece was like this. They didn't look brand new and I have no way to explain the one inch white streak on the bottom of the pan. They looked like they had been imperfectly dipped in paint.My boyfriend told me it was normal for copper pans to look like that, but I didn't agree. When you buy something brand new, it should look brand new. I expect patination and oxidization with use, but not right off the bat. If it had just been normal oxidization it might not have been so bad, but the fact that just the base finish was uneven and perfect lines dividing the colors meant this was not a natural patina.I took pictures of the pans into Williams-Sonoma and watched as the employees gathered around to cluck over the state of the finish. The pans they had in store had not been polished in awhile, were covered with fingerprints, were oxidized and even turquoise in parts, but they looked totally normal.I returned them to Amazon and got my new 250 set today. The 250 is what I really wanted (the copper is much thicker), and the finish is perfect.Given my experience, even with saving money by buying them online, it's probably best to get a gift like this in store so you can be sure of their condition.
